Patch Test Policy

Your Safety Always Comes First at The Vintage Avenue

At The Vintage Avenue in Biggleswade, your wellbeing is our highest priority. That’s why we follow a strict patch testing policy in line with professional standards and manufacturer guidelines.

Patch testing ensures your safety and helps us deliver every service with the care and confidence you deserve.

When a Patch Test Is Required

We require a patch test at least 48 hours before the following treatments:

  • Hair colour services (including highlights, root tint, toner or bleach)
  • Brow tint
  • Lash tint
  • Lash lift
  • Brow lamination

Even if you’ve had these treatments elsewhere before, we still need to perform a patch test in our salon to ensure compatibility with the specific products we use.

How It Works

A small amount of product will be applied to the skin (usually behind the ear or inside the elbow). This takes just a few minutes and helps us check for any potential sensitivities or allergic reactions.

If there is no reaction after 48 hours, your treatment can go ahead as planned.

When You Need a New Patch Test

You’ll need a new patch test if:

  • You are a new client to The Vintage Avenue
  • It has been more than 6 months since your last test
  • You are having a different product or brand than previously used
  • Your medical circumstances have changed (including pregnancy, medication, or health conditions)

No Patch Test, No Treatment

We will never perform a treatment that requires a patch test unless one has been completed successfully in advance. This is to protect your health and meet our insurance and regulatory obligations.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

Booking Your Patch Test

You can book your patch test by calling us on 01767 210210 or popping into the salon. There is no charge, and it only takes a few minutes — but it ensures peace of mind for both you and our team.

If you’re unsure whether you need a test for your chosen treatment, just ask. We’ll always guide you through the correct steps.

Thank you for helping us maintain the highest level of care.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a patch test for every hair colour appointment?
