Keeping your blonde hair healthy requires proper care and attention.

Here are some tips to help you maintain healthy blonde hair:

1. Use a gentle shampoo and conditioner: At The Vintage Avenue, Biggleswade we recommend Alfaparf reparative shampoo and conditioner. These products are specifically formulated for blonde or colour-treated hair. Avoid shampoos with sulphates, as they can strip the hair of its natural oils and cause colour fading. Use a conditioner to keep your hair moisturized and nourished.

2. Minimize heat styling: Heat styling tools like flat irons, curling irons, and blow dryers can damage your hair, causing it to become dry and brittle. Minimize the use of these tools or use them on the lowest heat setting. Apply a heat protectant spray before styling to provide some protection. We recommend Alfaparf Thermal protector which is a spray and can be used on damp or dry hair.


3. Protect your hair from the sun: Exposure to the sun can cause your blonde hair to become brassy or fade. Use hair products with UV protection or wear a hat or scarf to shield your hair from the sun's rays.


4. Deep condition regularly: Blonde hair tends to be more porous and prone to dryness. Treat your hair to deep conditioning treatments at least once a week or as needed. Look for products that provide moisture and repair damaged strands. Our blonde specialists recommend K18 in salon treatments and home care to banish dry hair and reverse damaged hair.


5. Avoid over-washing: Frequent washing can strip the natural oils from your hair, leaving it dry and dull. Try to wash your hair every 2-3 days or as needed. If your hair tends to get oily, use dry shampoo in between washes to freshen it up.


6. Use a purple shampoo: To prevent brassiness or yellow tones in your blonde hair, incorporate a purple shampoo into your routine. Purple shampoo helps neutralize unwanted warm tones and keep your blonde colour vibrant. Our Favourite product for this is NAK Hair blonde plus shampoo, but this is very concentrated so only use this once a week.


7. Trim regularly: Regular trims help prevent split ends and maintain the health of your hair. Aim to trim your hair every 6-8 weeks or as needed.

8. Be mindful of chlorine and saltwater: Chlorine from swimming pools and saltwater from the ocean can damage your hair and cause discoloration. Before swimming, wet your hair with fresh water and apply a leave-in conditioner or oil to create a protective barrier. After swimming, rinse your hair thoroughly and apply a hydrating mask to restore moisture.

9. Avoid harsh chemical treatments: Excessive bleaching, perming, or chemical straightening can severely damage your hair. If possible, avoid these treatments or consult a professional stylist who specializes in blonde hair to minimize damage.


10. Eat a balanced diet: A healthy diet rich in vitamins, minerals, and proteins can contribute to the overall health of your hair. Include foods like fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains in your diet to promote strong and shiny hair.
